Why “Lucy”?
Lucy is the name of my sourdough starter, created in 2015. Her name was inspired by the episode of “I Love Lucy” in which Lucy and Ethel attempt to bake their own bread, and get subsequently pinned against the wall by a comically large loaf escaping the oven. Other, punnier bakery name contenders included “I Loave Lucy”. I opted for a simple alliteration, and how I lovingly refer to the mother of all of my bread.
